Our January membership meeting kicked off a new year for the Frankfort Car Club. Attendance was very good especially for this time of the year. Earlier in the day, I spoke with John Nystrom, who informed me that although his health problems are improving, he felt the need to pass the Cruise Night chairman‘s responsibility on the another member. At our meeting, without hesitation, Bob O‘Connor was the first (and only) hat in the ring, so he is our new Chairman. Our cruise nights are very well organized in large part due to a good working relationship with many village services. John had a lot to do with building this relationship. Thanks, John, for all your hard work on the committee.
The first Cruise Night Committee meet-ing will be held at Tinley Park Bowl on February 1st, at 7:30 pm in the meeting room. We will discuss our cruise calendar, feature vehicles, raffle, advertisers and our cruise night flier. As with all FCC committees, we welcome your attendance and participation. If you are not active in the club, this is a good way to get to know some of the great people in our club. We are always open to new ideas. If you decide to join us, no call or email is necessary. Just show up.
WOW! What a great time we had in Urbana on January 15th. A big thanks goes out to Dennis Heywood for convincing Allen Strong to open up his collection for us, and to Dave Mosier for putting it all together. J. P. took some great shots of some absolutely beautiful vehi-cles. Photos can be found just to the right.
We all hope to see our other photographer, Gary Ross, in action soon as he is recovering from hernia surgery. It‘s always good to see Gary with his camera in hand at our club events.
Just two last items. Please keep in your thoughts and prayers those members and families who may be suffering in some way at this time, either physically or emo-tionally.
And lastly, our club runs on volunteerism. Please make it your goal this year to volunteer some of your time in support of club activities. Remember, money can‘t buy happiness (but it sure makes misery easier to live with). I hope to see you all at our February membership meeting.
